I basically live in 3 pairs of shoes- my Hunter Gumboots, my Jeffery Campbells and my Frye engineer boots.
My Frye boots are perfect for interning: they give me a bit of height, look polished but are majorly comfy. While they did take agessss to break in (I'm talking blister upon blister), they were well worth the effort (fashion is pain right?!)
My trusty wellies never fail to keep my feet dry at uni, and have made my last two festival outfits.
Lucky it really did rain that day...
And oh my Jeffery Campbelles. COMFIEST heels you will ever buy. I'm literally still obsessed with the way they can make any night outfit that much cooler.
So I woke up this morning feeling like we
completely skipped the whole “autumn” thing and transitioned straight into
winter! For all you emotionally struggling to deal with the fact that we now
have to face painful decisions regarding wearing a jacket out or just
bracing the icy run from cabs to clubs like a boss, here is a list of
reasons why winter is kind of… hot!
♥ FASHION. Yes it’s obvious, and whilst I
confess to preferring the whole ‘chuck-on-denim-shorts-and-a-singlet-in-the-morning-and-im-ready’
thing, I can’t deny that winter fashion is way more exciting! Beanies,
trenches, scarfs, stockings, long socks, tights, knitted jumpers, boots! It is
undeniable that the opportunities are endless and we can engulf ourselves in
our wardrobes every morning by layering and wearing as much clothing as
possible! There are so many more outfits to create in winter because it's
totally okay to outfit-repeat items and hide it under a veil of Gossip Girl style cuteness!
♥ It is okay to
indulge. We don't have to worry
about bikinis, shorts or practically walking the streets naked - so it’s completely fine to hold the mentality that we MAY AS WELL have that extra hot
chocolate because, well, no one will notice under this jumper anyway! However, this is
simultaneously a negative because food is so appealing in winter. Nothing seems more
inviting than Max Brenner waffles on a
cold winters day, so as long as we indulge in conjunction with the occasional vegetable soup, we don't have to feel guilty!
♥ BED. I
know that personally, my sleep levels increase by about 90% during winter. As
opposed to summer where I spend all night removing clothing and turning up my
fan, winter provides you with everything that's amazing about sleeping but
makes it somewhat, simplistic! Of course it's consequently a horror to wake up the next
morning, especially if you have work, uni or school, but I guess such just makes
weekends that much sweeter!
♥ Boys in Beanies. There's a picture of zac efron below. Need I say more? On a related note, boy jumpers are amazing. If you are yet to invest in a boyfriend, simply buy a Cheap Monday one from General Pants!
That's awkwardly about all
I can think of. I’m going to go make myself a chai latte and think about doing
my uni readings. Enjoy our winter flicks
Post receiving a catholic secondary
education, one of the many values resultantly ingrained in my consciousness is
not to utilize Christianity for trivial purposes such as fashion. However, this
mentality was confronted the other day when Ellese and I were shopping at the
FrouFrou market stall. Whilst looking through the beautiful racks of delicate,
vintage style clothing, my eyes found a black, flowy skirt which featured white
crucifix crosses all over it. Without giving it a second thought, I
picked it up and ventured to the change room, only to walk out and be met with
that uncertain face our mother gives us when she doesn't want to be abrupt and
cut us down, but basically thinks the item sucks. “It’s nice, but is it a tad…
blasphemous?” she asked. Until then, the thought honestly hadn’t even crossed
my mind (pun not intended) and before I knew it, we were faced with the
decision as to whether it was worth rebelling our faith for the purpose of
style. Of course, despite loving the skirt, we decided to leave it
behind, which brings us to the question, do Christianity and fashion exist in a
symbiotic relationship? We think yes and no. Various fashions today exist
without the consideration of religion, which of course is fine because every
individual holds different beliefs. However, it is undeniable that there are
many examples of individuals and religious groups that will happily compromise
their style for the sake of creed. Here is an image of the skirt for you guys
to make up your own mind about anyway.
I first saw this look book from Free People with Karlie Kloss back in January, but it is too good not to share again. Any fashion shoot that incorporates NYC tourist sites or coffee cups immediately catches my eye, and this one is has it all.
My most FAQ's tend to be in regards to what clothes have been arriving in the fashion cupboard lately, so here is a quick recap:
Firstly, they have been AMAZING and each week a part of me slowly dies due to the fact that I cant afford a large majority of it. I've notice a lot of sporty/preppy styled apparel, especially Wild Fox tshirts and American Apparel puffy skirts. Other than that, sequins have been coming in by the bunch and it is evident that fluoro colouring has been reborn and is slowly, but surely, dispersing itself from its supre days by assimilating into couture style culture! Furthermore, studs are a fab way to grunge up an outfit and these babies are currently featuring on everything from belts and bracelets to shoes and bags! Finally, Leopard print is undoubtedly ubiquitous at the moment. I have a very complex love/hate relationship with this pattern. My immediate reaction always screams GANGA, however as much as it pains me to say it, I'm starting to develop a liking for it. This doesn't mean I intend to rebel against my sustained ideology and prejudices that it's for the Jersey Shore type of girl, but there's no point denying that i've been guilty of purchasing a few leopard items as of late. I've come to the conclusion that it is cute and actually quite effective when used sparingly.
I'm going to jet before I succumb to admitting any other suppressed fashion fads I enjoy, have a happy easter everyone!! <3 Love b xo
after much discussion, plenty of procrastination and two neglected individual blogs, we have finally decided to unite our creative spirits and start a joint blog; and what better day to do so than easter whilst engulfed in chocolate haze!
Despite the fact that not all the photos we post may be ours (#scaredofbeingsuedforcopyright), we intend to post anything and everything that is pretty, inspiring and just plain cute! Whilst we are trying to get everything up and running, click on our tumblrs below!
